The village of Boca de Guamá itself is a bit of an tourist attraction, nevertheless, worth a visit: A replica of a Native American Taíno island village built on a group of small islands connected by wooden bridges. Within the village there are 32 life-size figures of Taínos (by the renowned Cuban artist Rita Longa) that recreate the daily activities of the Taínos and the huts in which they lived. Through a kind of pre-designed pedestrian circuit you go through the village where the lifestyle in a Taino village before the arrival of Christopher Columbus is shown.
The entrance includes a vessel trip, which takes you across the Laguna del Tesoro, the largest fresh water lake in Cuba, to the Native American village. For 10.00CUC you can take an 8km boat tour over the lake and canals.
