Located near the Finca Campesina, Central Australia and Municipal History Museum is an old sugarcane factory, founded in 1862 by two brothers who named all their factories continents.
In early January 1959 the sugar workers of Central Australia, supporting the decision of the Workers' Union, overthrew the muralists leaders and formed the first revolutionary policy in Central Australia, incorporating some communist militants.
During the Bay of Pigs invasion a few months later, Fidel used the offices of the Central Australia as the Command Headquarters of the FAR. Nowadays the buildings house the Municipal Historical Museum. The museum has a good historical collection and is worth a visit.
